African Drumming |
meet the musicAfrican DrummingAfrican Drumming lessons are aimed at learning and using all different cultures of African traditional music to create different rythm and beats trough drumming and song. This course is intended to develop children’s natural musical abilities. These musical productions also have excellent therapeutic effects such as stress reduction and removal of communication barriers.
![]() Equipment:
African djembes, sticks, rumba balls, bongos, litlle drumms, tambourines atd.
Founding Principles: 1. Intuitive grasp of rhythm and beat without using notes or an explanation of the theory of rhythmic values (in particular with small children). 2. An understanding of the division of basic rhythmic values using games and examples 3. “Interrupting” a regular beat and emphasis – grace notes, breaks, syncope etc. 4. Playing in an ensemble – communication and listening 5. Creating accompaniment to songs 6. Technical instruction on djembes The instructor will often spice up the djembe playing with drum or guitar accompaniment.
